In plain language: what we collect, why, and who can see it.
Last updated: November 3, 2026
Fairnab is currently operated from Ontario, Canada. When Fairnab is run through a company, we will update these documents with the company's name. The person in charge of protecting personal information at Fairnab (the Privacy Officer) can be reached at admin@fairnab.ca. Send any privacy question, request, or complaint there.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, home address, or payment details, and we ask you not to include them in your notes.
By signing in and submitting a price, you agree to us collecting and using your information for these purposes. You can withdraw that agreement at any time by contacting us, although we may then be unable to keep your account or unlock results for you. We do not send marketing email. If we ever want to, we will ask you first.
Other people only ever see combined figures: a low, median, and high price for groups of at least three reports covering the same type of work, in the same city and province, in the same year. Your email address, description, notes, and individual price are never shown to other users. We may also publish combined figures in reports or articles, which never identify any individual.
We do not sell your information. We use outside companies to run Fairnab, and they handle information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people or the site from harm or abuse, or as part of a sale, reorganization, or transfer of Fairnab to a company set up to run it, in which case the same protections would continue to apply.
Our main database is hosted in the Canada (Central) region. Some of our other providers operate in other countries, including the United States. Information such as your IP address, or your email address when a message is sent, may be processed there or pass through it, and may be accessible to courts and authorities under the laws of those places, which can differ from Canadian law.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other sites. Your browser's local storage is used to keep you signed in, and to remember that you closed a notice. We do not use profiling or automated decisions that affect you.
We keep your email and submissions while your account is active, until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them for the purposes above. If you joined the notification list, we keep your email until we have sent the launch email or you unsubscribe. When you ask us to delete your information, we remove your account and your submissions. Combined figures that were already calculated from many people's reports may remain, since they do not identify you. Copies may stay in our providers' backups for a limited time before they are overwritten.
No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident creates a real risk of serious harm to you, we will tell you and the privacy regulator as the law requires.
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to withdraw your consent. Email admin@fairnab.ca from the address you signed in with, so we can confirm it is you. We aim to answer within 30 days. You can leave the notification list at any time on the unsubscribe page. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, if you live in Quebec, to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Fairnab is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will also post a notice on the site or email you.
Privacy Officer, Fairnab: admin@fairnab.ca.
